Okay having trouble with just about everything. Can someone please tell me (preferably link me to) what i need to run this game and give me an idiots guide to installing it. As I've tried changing the language, i've tried RPG Maker 2000, the RTP etc and I must be missing something as it still won't run.

1. Download RPG Maker 2000 ( http://2drpg.com/d/RM2K_105E.zip )
   
   
2. Unzip & Install
   
   
3. Set your computer on Japanese Unicode (MUST DO BEFORE INSTALLING THE RTP)
   
   
4. To set it, simply go on your Control Panel, go on Clock, language and regions (or something like that), select Region & Language, go on the Administrative tab, and click on Chance System Locale then scroll down to Japanese (Japan) (I'd instrucct you to use some Microsoft application for that but it doesn't work on Windows 7 so I had'nt the opportunity to try it) then pess Apply, Ok, and reboot your computer (For windows xp go in regional and language then advanced)
   
   
5. Download & Install the Japanese RTP ( http://tkool.jp/rtp/2000rtp.exe ）
   
   
6. Run the game!
   
   

I'm not sure of a step or two since I've done it a while ago but I'm pretty sure thats it!

You won't be able to install the RTP if your Unicode isn't set to japanese

Cheers for the reply, but following that i get to 44% on the RTP then it stops and spills a load of random symbols at me (not japanese). Any further advice?

Ahh yes I recall having the same issue of being stuck at 44%!

Have you set your system Unicode to japanese?

You could also try to Run it as Admin as it may require this access level for some regs.

I'm not sure of how I installed that one but I managed to do it after messing with it for a while! If it fails again let me know I'll remove mine and try to set it up again

Hi there, sorry about delay RL getting in the way. I'm still stuck though it has improved a bit i now get a window open up before it crashes. Any advice for that?

Do you need the English RTP for 2000? As I tried downloading it but 1.00 doesn't work which is listed as "required".

Hmm I think the correct order is english 2000 then RTP english then RTP japanese... but as I said I did this 9 months ago so its a bit far back

How does one go about setting their Unicode to Japanese?

I understand that you go into the control panel - regional and language options but from there i am stumped!

The tabs that I have are Regional options, languages, and advanced. In which of these tabs do I find my Unicode settings.

I'm pretty sure i can figure out the rest its just I've never changed the code before.

Go to Advanced then "Change System locale" or whatever button is in the paragraph entitled "Language for non-unicode programs"

then scroll down to Japanese (Japan) select Ok and restart your computer

It shouldn't change anything at all for the rest of your computer the only change I've noticed is when browsing for a file the \ has changed into a ¥ but it's basicly the same comand/effect as \

If you're on Vista or Windows 7 on the region & language go to the Admnistrative tab and select "Change System Locale"

Thanks. I got it working a few days ago. The game is acting a bit funny, like 1/3 of the screen is twitchy and flashing black, its still playable but its kinda annoying.

Did you download & patch with the english translation? I found this issue happens too but only when I have AGHT to copy/paste text

Or if you don't mind, jut hit F4 (just f4 nothing else) and the game will switch to windowed mode!
